Cycles of the waves of life, the circles of circumstance, and a whole plethora of unexpected occur to each of us at any given moment. How do we navigate?
There is always a program available. Often people with very distinct opinions will direct you. We run to food or some other addiction for comfort or to ease the pain. Things we collect (stuff to buy) can ease the burden for a time. We escape in books, TV, and movies. Often we spend our lives trying to attain or remove something. Make it better.
When you have someone in your life that you have known for eons, you begin to know all their nuances. If they don't like something, perhaps they have a twitch at the corner of their mouth or raise an eyebrow. When they are trying to hide an emotion, they laugh. They always take the same route to work or church. Anger or stressed is relieved by pulling weeds. Dig a little deeper. You know if they are sad because they get quiet. The favorite time to share in depth is on a long car ride.
You go from knowing about a person, to knowing a person. The actual person. I'll insert this here, but how well do you know yourself? Not our point today, but the better you know the way God created you and know yourself, the better you will know what He thinks and sees in you. When you know a person you begin to TRUST a person. You learn and know their CHARACTER. Because of character, trust is earned and given.
I have heard it said, often we know about Jesus and learn all about Him, but we need to know WHO He is in personal relationship. We need to know Him. I agree, wholeheartedly. But, yep, I have a disclaimer. I don't know someone, or trust them until I know about them. What do you know about God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit? I don't want to know someone unless I know about them. Then what I hear, what I read, I can decide if I want to know them.
Wherever you are in your journey, take the next step. Who is this Jesus? Who is the Father? Holy Spirit? Ask and listen. Seek, he will make it clear. Who is He? What is He about? What about the things I don't understand? Or even things that seem unjust? I can trust Him because I know His character.
How do I navigate?
I go to the ONE, the only one who would lay His life down for His friends and His enemies. Romans 5:8 But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!
I go to the ONE, who is full of goodness. Psalm 119:68 Everything you do is beautiful, flowing from your goodness; teach me the power of your wonderful words!
I go to the ONE who can lead, guide and direct me. 2 Timothy 3:16 Every Scripture has been written by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.
I go to the ONE who loves me the same way He loves His son, Jesus. Ephesians 1:5-6 For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace—for the same love he has for his Beloved One, Jesus, he has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure!
How well do you know Him?
Lord I want to know you more. Reveal yourself. You are the answer. I trust you. I love you.
